S.J.Res.18 CRA: CFPB Overdraft Fee Rule

repealing the CFPB's $5 cap on overdraft fees at banks and credit unions with over $10 billion in assets (119th Congress)

View on Congress.gov

Repeals a 2024 CFPB rule that required banks and credit unions with more than $10 billion in assets to cap overdraft fees at $5, limit them to what overdraft actually costs the bank, or treat overdraft as a loan with standard credit disclosures. Because the repeal passed under the Congressional Review Act, the CFPB cannot issue a substantially similar rule without new authority from Congress.
