H.Amdt.231 to H.R.2670 FY24 NDAA Amendment — Reduce Deployed ICBMs

Reduces the total number of nuclear-armed Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles deployed in the United States under the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act. Article VI of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT, July 1, 1968; in force March 5, 1970) obligates parties to pursue negotiations in good faith on effective measures relating to cessation of the nuclear arms race and to nuclear disarmament. The New START Treaty (2010, extended 2021) caps deployed strategic warheads at 1,550.
