Kingston, NY — On Saturday, October 18, 2025, Rep. Pat Ryan stood before thousands at the No Kings Rally in Kingston and led the crowd in declaring "Liberty and Justice for ALL." But constituents weren't letting his hypocrisy slide.

Ryan's appearance prompted a few in the crowd to attempt to shout him down for his support of Israel. As Ryan called out "Liberty and Justice for..." and waited for the crowd to respond "ALL," constituents shouted back: "But not for Palestinians!" and "You support genocide!" and "Stop arming Israel!"

Ryan did not address their concerns. Instead, he continued: "I love this country so much that I risked my life for it... I love this country so much that I wear this bracelet for my brothers and sisters in arms, who gave their lives for this country, who gave their lives so that all of us can speak up and say whatever we want wherever we want however we want..."

Ryan spoke of soldiers who gave their lives for freedom of speech while his constituents exercised that right to challenge his voting record on Palestine.

The Hypocrisy Exposed

Just weeks before the rally, on September 26, 2025, Ryan led 25 House Democrats in strongly rejecting Trump's unconstitutional deployment of U.S. troops against U.S. citizens, warning that Trump had crossed a "bright red line" and was threatening "the very fabric" of America's democracy. Congressman Pat Ryan

Ryan and his colleagues wrote: "This nation and our Constitution demand an apolitical military. We're teetering on the knife's edge, and silence is not an option." Congressman Pat Ryan

Yet when it comes to international law and Palestinian rights, Ryan's commitment to the rule of law evaporates.

In January 2025, Ryan voted YES on H.R. 23, the "Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act," which sanctions International Criminal Court officials for issuing arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. CNN Common Dreams Ryan was one of only 45 Democrats to join Republicans in this vote.

UN human rights experts condemned the bill, calling it "shocking to see a country that considers itself a champion of the rule of law trying to stymie the actions of an independent and impartial tribunal" and warning that "threats against the ICC promote a culture of impunity." UN News OHCHR

The Double Standard: Ryan stands against Trump undermining domestic rule of law, but actively votes to undermine international law when it comes to holding Netanyahu accountable. He champions "liberty and justice for all" at rallies while voting to protect an official accused of using starvation as a weapon of war against Palestinian civilians.

Sample Script:

"Hi, I'm calling to urge Representative Ryan to co-sponsor HR 3565, the Block the Bombs Act. He claims to support liberty and justice for all, but he votes to sanction the ICC for holding Netanyahu accountable. 55 Democrats have already signed on. When will he?"

Ryan cannot proclaim "Liberty and Justice for ALL" while funding weapons used against Palestinian civilians. He cannot condemn Trump's attacks on domestic rule of law while voting to sanction international courts holding Netanyahu accountable. His constituents are calling out the hypocrisy — and they won't stay silent.
